Our traditions.

We strive to promote confidence within ourselves and each other. We encourage spiritual growth, participation in school and community events and outreach. Our traditions are also designed to encourage school spirit. Through our events, we desire to have fun in a safe and non-threatening environment.

Tiger Tunes

Our club has a long history of performing well in Tiger Tunes. We currently are tied for the most winning shows (12) in Tiger Tunes history. Kappa’s tradition of performing well in Tiger Tunes began in 1982 with our first show, “Gang’s All Here,” which won first place and helped get Kappa Chi off the ground. Since then, we have won two three-peats (1994-1996 and 2006-2008) and consistently placed either first or first runner-up. Tiger Tunes is something our club takes pride in. Weeks of practice allow us to enjoy time together, grow our brotherhood and connect ourselves with generation of alumni who enjoyed the same Tiger Tunes success.

Service

Service has been at the heart of Kappa Chi since its foundation in 1981. The founding members saw service as way to better the members of the club and the community in which its members live. Service requires you to look beyond yourself and see the needs of others. It is a way to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those around you. The club upholds the tradition of service through various projects throughout the year. Past service projects include chopping wood for disabled individuals and cleaning pens at the local humane society. The club also sponsors a child through Compassion International and sponsors numerous Tiger Serve Day teams each semester.

Intramurals

We believe intramural sports are a great way to have fun and get to know our brothers better. With a wide range of athletic abilities in our club, we also have a wide range of athletic teams — from championship-winning flag football teams to basketball teams who take half-court shots and lose every game. Regardless of the record at the end of the season, the important thing is that intramurals bring our club together and grow our brotherhood stronger.

Mixers

Each year, Kappa Chi hosts at least one mixer with every women’s social club on Ouachitas campus. These fun events are great ways to meet new friends and grow our relationship with the other clubs. Recent examples of mixers are: KXD Capture The Flag, KXXX Karaoke, KEEEX Kickball and KXM Christmas Cookies.

Serenades

Recently, Kappa Chi has brought back it’s well-known serenades. The Kappa Chi members make their way around OBUs campus and sing songs aloud for students and KX little sisses. Specially themed serenades are common for special seasons, such as Christmas Carols in December.
