Our Values.

On November 10, 1981, 23 men on Ouachita’s campus came together to form a new social club — Kappa Chi. They chose these letters, KX, to represent the greek phrase “Kurios Christos,” or “Christ is Lord.” They wanted to build a brotherhood based upon Christ and the values through which he has commanded his followers to live.

In order to create a Christ-centered social club which would lay the foundation for lifelong friendships and meaningful growth, the founding members focused the club upon three values: Respect, Diversity and Brotherhood. Almost forty years later, Kappa Chi still holds these values dear, and they empower every new class of Brothers who come along.

Respect.

A brotherhood does not function if one does not respect his brothers. Kappa seeks to instill the ability to interact well with others and resolve conflicts with others, even with those with whom we don’t agree.

Diversity.

We take pride in having a very diverse brotherhood. No two members of Kappa Chi are the same. Through practicing respect, this diversity makes our club stronger and prepares us for the world outside of college.

Brotherhood.

The goal of any men’s social club is to gain brotherhood, but we feel ours is special. Through club traditions and spending time with one another, we have created a brotherhood which will last a lifetime.
